1. He wears black.
When faced with today’s variety of superheroes prancing around in brightly colored tights, one might ask one’s self, “Does it come in black?”
“Yes, Mr. Wayne, it does come in black.” Black is never going out of style, and Batman won’t either. The Dark Knight has a fondness for sneaking up on his foes like a ninja and working under moonlight, so it’s not practical to wear another color, anyway. Still, I like to think that Batman would wear black even if it didn’t make his job a little easier. With the weight of an entire city on his shoulders and innocent people’s lives at risk, Batman’s somber attire shows us that he takes his job very seriously.
2. He has no real superpowers.
This is what sets Batman apart from all the other freaks out there: He’s just a dude in a suit. It’s easy to be brave when you’re invincible or you have a magic ring or you can turn into a giant green monster, but Bruce Wayne doesn’t have any of that. He doesn’t even have cartilage in his knee!
Sure, he learned to fight from a crazed martial arts expert and he has gadgets that would make James Bond jealous, but realistically it doesn’t take much to take Batman down. He’s a normal guy like the rest of us, and it’s his courage, instincts, and mad gliding skills that make him a hero.
3. The Batmobile
Despite that awesome gliding, Batman can’t actually fly, nor can he swing around a city like Spider-Man. Besides, how exactly do other superheroes take their ladies out on the town? Carry them like cavemen? Give me a break. Batman classes it up with the sweetest ride in all of comic book land. The Batmobile is comfortable and roomy, plus it can shoot missiles and straight up drive through walls.
4. He’s rich.
Being rich isn’t cool by itself. The point is that Bruce isn’t fighting crime for money or glory. He’s got all the money he wants and he is awesome enough to land any babe in

Now that Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy is complete, it’s pretty clear that he’s made the greatest superhero trilogy of all time. The three movies are filled with atmosphere, nuance and terrific acting, which are three things that many action movie directors overlook in favor of cheesy dialogue and familiar plotlines. With so many movie goers flocking to The Dark Knight Rises, it’s clear that fans appreciate Nolan’s work just as much as critics do. When you include the terrific pair of Tim Burton Batman movies (and forget Joel Schumacher’s Batman and Robin), Batman has starred in more quality movies than any other superhero in history.
The Joker, Bane and Ra’s Al Ghul have all tried, but no one can defeat the Batman. With a combination of stealth, cunning and awesome weapons, the Dark Knight can persevere through any challenge.
