A fairytale story with a twist of realism and a splash of action!

The fairy tale that many grew up to gets a new facelift and added action sequences with Snow White & the Huntsman! We begin this tale with the daughter of a king who brings happiness and joy to those around her. Unfortunately, as she enjoys her kingdom and its people a sickness comes upon her mother. After her mother’s death Snow's father; The King, comes upon a rare beauty of a woman that must be saved and adored. In very short order, The King decides to marry the mysterious Ravenna (Charlize Theron). Shortly after, the marriage ends in anything but happiness as the kingdom falls and the land is destroyed by its new and deadly Queen.
This new Queen luxuriates in her power and beauty until the day Snow White (Kristin Stewart) comes of age. Told that Snow White is the key to all she wants, she sends for her prisoner only to allow an escape. Cold and frightened, Snow enters the dark forest to escape the ensuing forces. Not to be dissuaded, The Queen sends in a dastardly drunk known as the Huntsman (Chris Hemsworth). Being chased and with no real plans, can Snow White find her foretold friends and save her once land and kingdom?
I was greatly surprised by this movie. I was expecting something too corny or something with a weak or transparent plot. Snow White & the Huntsman has the right mixture of fairytale, magic and action to cover most bases. In my mind, I see inklings of movies past like Willow and other fairytale adventures. And while not totally safe for young children, this movie does require a little of the imagination we used every day as a child.
P.S. - Look for some very well know faces in the Dwarves!
